About Agenda
Agenda was laid out in 1887 on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, and its name comes from the Latin word for what ought to be done. The 2020 census counted 47 residents. The post office closed in 1998, yet the current community description still identifies a few homes, small businesses, an active Methodist Church, and a historic downtown district. Those details give Agenda a present-day shape beyond its railroad origin. Education now connects the city to Belleville. Republic County USD 109 remains the district for Agenda, with its elementary and junior/senior high campuses in Belleville and current district offices on 19th Street. Agenda's local scale and older center sit inside a county school system whose facilities and activities are concentrated in the county seat.
