Alden, MI

Tucked along the southeast shore of Torch Lake, Alden is a tiny waterfront community where life moves at an easy, lakeside pace. With just over a hundred year-round residents, it offers a peaceful, small-town setting right where Spencer Creek flows into the lake. Most daily routines here revolve around the water, from quiet morning walks along the shoreline to catching evening sunsets across the turquoise bay.

The town grew around the railroad in the late 1800s, and that history is preserved at the restored depot and museum by the water. Today, the surrounding Depot Park serves as a favorite local gathering spot, featuring public boat launches, docks, and open green space. During the summer, downtown perks up as boaters and neighbors stroll between local bakeries, spice shops, and cafes, while winters bring a quiet, cozy retreat.
