The town traces its roots back to the 1880s, when William Alexander and his wife Martha opened a small general store and post office that grew into a permanent settlement. Today, it offers a peaceful rural atmosphere where open space is easy to come by and life moves at an easygoing pace.

Residents make the quick drive up the road to Chickasha for groceries, healthcare, and dining, keeping things simple and quiet at home.
