Alexandria, TN

Alexandria began in the early 1800s when Dr. Daniel Alexander established a settlement on land in what became DeKalb County, and the town still carries his name. It sits at the county’s northwest corner, with U.S. 70 cutting across the southwest side and linking the place toward Lebanon and Smithville. The Caney Fork River is one of the area’s key geographic markers, while Alexandria’s local role is tied to being a small Middle Tennessee town on the road between larger county communities. There is no long list of named landmarks here; the early land story is the hook—a founding tract, a doctor’s name, and a town that grew along the road.
