Anna, OH

Anna is a Shelby County village laid out by J.W. Carey in 1858 beside the B&O Railroad. It was first called Carey's Station, then Anna for Carey's daughter; a sawmill opened in 1861, and grain and lumber businesses followed before incorporation in 1877. Honda's Anna plant now adds a major manufacturing site to the village's map, while Anna Local Schools and the public library serve as everyday institutions. Beneath that railroad-and-farm story is the prehistoric Teays River, which passed through the area and left sediment along the Greenville Fault. Anna is an Ohio village where family name, rail line, factory, school, and geology all meet.
