Annapolis Neck, MD

Annapolis Neck is the census-defined portion of a broader peninsula community south of MD 2 and outside the City of Annapolis. Anne Arundel County’s Region 7 plan describes the area as primarily low-density, single-family neighborhoods, with small commercial nodes along Riverview Avenue and Bay Ridge Road near Edgewood Road. The 6.93-square-mile CDP counted 10,973 residents in 2020. The median owner-occupied home value was $739,100, monthly costs for owners with a mortgage were $3,310, median gross rent was $2,489, and workers’ mean travel time was 30.1 minutes. These figures give the statistical community a current housing and travel profile without treating it as a separately incorporated municipality. County facilities provide several of Annapolis Neck’s most visible shared spaces. residential Waters Park occupies 340 acres between the South River and Harness Creek.

Its miles of paved trails connect three playgrounds, picnic areas, more than a dozen outdoor sculptures, and a visitor center with two art galleries; the park also has a cartop boat launch, reservable pavilions, summer concerts, and separate off-leash dog-park and dog-beach areas. Peninsula Park adds baseball, basketball, pickleball, tennis, multipurpose fields, a playground, and trails. Near the peninsula’s southern end, Thomas Point Park provides fishing, trails, a pavilion, and shoreline picnic space; advance parking passes are required from April through October, with limited daily and monthly availability. The Eastport-Annapolis Neck Library supplies another year-round gathering point, combining books and digital collections with meeting rooms, online tutoring, community-resource referrals, and programs for preschoolers, children, teens, and adults.
