About Antioch
Antioch is a Lake County village near the Wisconsin line, with roots along Sequoit Creek, a tributary of the Fox River. A sawmill built by Hiram Buttrick helped make the area a local commerce center, and nearby lakes later drew summer visitors, including Al Capone, who owned a home on Bluff Lake. Antioch has a long-running local arts presence through Palette, Masque and Lyre. It feels like a northern Illinois lake-country village, part suburb and part old resort community.
