Arboles, CO

Arboles is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southwestern Archuleta County, on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation. The name means trees in Spanish, and the town's practical map is shaped by the water just outside it: Navajo State Park begins near Arboles, where the Colorado end of Navajo Reservoir meets the San Juan and Piedra River valleys. The post office dates to 1882, giving the community a small civic history before the reservoir changed the landscape.

Navajo Reservoir stretches 35 miles into New Mexico. Colorado Parks and Wildlife lists about 15,000 surface acres across the reservoir, a 110-foot boat ramp, a seasonal marina, campsites, and nine miles of trails at the park. Two Rivers Marina supplies boat fuel, rentals, and storage during the season, so the lake is part of the area's working and recreational rhythm. Arboles also sits within a living tribal landscape: reservation-wide places include the Sky Ute Fairgrounds and RV Park, SunUte Community Center, and Lake Capote camping and fishing facilities. The community lies 35 miles southwest of Pagosa Springs and 45 miles southeast of Durango, with the reservoir serving as its nearest major center.
