About Archie
Archie is a southern Cass County city on Missouri Route A, half a mile west of U.S. 71. It was platted in 1880, named for Archie Talmadge, and has had a post office since that same year. The town’s strangest footnote came on August 10, 1932, when a meteorite fell nearby; the official Archie meteorite is an H6 chondrite, and a fragment is held by the Smithsonian. Basketball is the other local calling card: Archie hosts a high-school tournament that has run for decades. The South Grand River passes northeast, just beyond town.
