About Arlington
Arlington is a Columbia County village that began with settlement in 1838 and a town plat laid out in 1871 by David Bullen and Sarah Pierce. Bullen’s son Winslow built the first village building that summer, giving the new place a start beside the roads and rail lines that later carried grain out of the area. Arlington still sits within the Town of Arlington, a reminder that the village and the surrounding township grew side by side. It is a small Wisconsin place with a clear founding cast: the Bullens, Sarah Pierce, and a first building put up by hand.
