DeForest, WI

DeForest is a Dane County village north of Madison, near the Yahara River. Before European settlement, the area was home to Native peoples, notably the Ho-Chunk Nation, and the river landscape still gives the village some of its geographic context. Modern DeForest is a growing Madison-area community, with subdivisions, schools, local parks, and highway access for commuters. It feels like a practical north-side suburb with older village roots, close enough to Madison for work but far enough out to keep more room around it.
