Arnold, PA

Arnold is a Westmoreland County city of 4,772 residents in the 2020 census, set on the eastern shore of the Allegheny River northeast of Pittsburgh. Its total area is only 0.8 square miles, and New Kensington borders it on three sides; across the river is East Deer Township. Major Andrew Arnold settled the area in 1852, and Chambers Glass Company established itself here in 1891. That industrial beginning still belongs to the shared Arnold-New Kensington story. The New Kensington-Arnold School District serves both municipalities. Arnold's recreation map has Roosevelt Park on Drey Street, Fireman Park on Riverside Drive, the 18th Street Baseball Field, and the Arnold Middle School football field.

Several named historic homes also remain on Leishman Avenue, including the Morris Davis and Hartley Howard houses. The Allegheny is the city's western edge and its clearest view out, with Pittsburgh up the river. Arnold is a very small city with a glassmaking past, a shared school system, and named fields and parks along streets between the river and New Kensington.
