Asherton, TX

Asherton is a quiet South Texas town in Dimmit County, located along U.S. 83 about eight miles southeast of Carrizo Springs. Home to around 700 residents, it offers a peaceful rural atmosphere with wide-open skies and a slow, steady pace of life. The community was founded in the early 1900s as a farming center, quickly growing into a key shipping point for South Texas onions once the railroad arrived. El Moro Creek winds past the east side of town, and the main highway connects directly south toward Laredo.

Day-to-day life here connects closely with Carrizo Springs just up the road. Younger children can attend Asherton Elementary right in town, while older students commute to the consolidated middle and high schools in Carrizo Springs. While Asherton covers the basic municipal essentials, residents usually take the quick drive north for full grocery shopping, medical care, and community programs. It is an unpretentious, quiet place to live if you want rural space within easy reach of regional conveniences.
