Asotin, WA

Tucked along the west bank of the Snake River in Washington's far southeastern corner, Asotin sits about ten minutes south of Clarkston. With around 1,200 residents, it has the quiet, open feel of a small river community nestled beneath steep basalt hills. Waterfront parks and public boat ramps make it easy to spend weekends fishing for steelhead or cruising the water. The town takes its name from a Nez Perce word referring to eel creek, highlighting just how long these waterways have anchored the area.

Asotin serves as the county seat, which brings a steady daytime rhythm to the historic brick buildings and courthouse downtown. Residents head just a few miles north into Clarkston and across the state line to Lewiston, Idaho, for major shopping, healthcare, and regional amenities. Driving south along Highway 129 quickly leads into rugged backcountry and the reaches of Hells Canyon. It offers a peaceful place to settle down with incredible outdoor access right outside your front door.
