Atlantic Beach, FL

Atlantic Beach started out in the early 1900s as a quiet stop on Henry Flagler's coastal railroad, centered around grand seaside hotels and summer cottages. Over the decades, it grew into a tight-knit residential community while managing to keep its independent identity when most of Duval County merged into Jacksonville. Today, home to around 13,500 people, the city sits on a narrow barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Living on the east side of Mayport Road puts the beach and Town Center within an easy walk or bike ride, while homes further west offer bigger lots and quicker access to everyday strip malls and inland routes.
