About Atoka

Atoka is a growing town in Tipton County, Tennessee, situated just east of the Mississippi River. Tracing its municipal roots to the 1838 charter of Portersville, the community developed as a key railroad stop in 1888. Today, the town of approximately 10,400 lies along the active rail line traversed by Amtrak's City of New Orleans train. The community serves as a residential residential suburb within commuting distance of the Memphis metropolitan area.
