Baileyville, KS

Baileyville got its start back in the 1870s as a prairie stop called Haytown, named for the massive loads of wild grass shipped out on the newly laid railroad. The Bailey family bought up the land a few years later and gave the town its current name. Today, it is a quiet, close-knit rural community located right along US 36 in Nemaha County, just six miles west of Seneca. It offers a relaxed, unhurried pace of life surrounded by wide-open farm country.

Despite its small size, Baileyville has a few standout features, including a regional center for Highland Community College that provides hands-on technical training right in town.
