Balch Springs is a Dallas County city on the southeast side of the Dallas metro area. The area was first settled in the 1840s, but modern Balch Springs is shaped mostly by suburban growth, highways, schools, and its position near Mesquite and Dallas. Different parts of the city are served by Dallas ISD and Mesquite ISD, and residents also have access to Dallas College. Balch Springs is practical and working-class in feel, with daily life tied closely to jobs and services across eastern Dallas County.
