Baron, OK

Baron is an Adair County CDP and unincorporated community of 243 people at the 2020 census, set along U.S. 59 between Stilwell and Westville. The settlement sits on the West Branch of the Baron Fork of the Illinois River, which carries its water toward the Arkansas River through the Illinois system. That gives Baron a very particular map: a highway corridor through eastern Oklahoma, with a named fork and river basin doing as much to locate the community as the road does.
