Bayboro, NC

Bayboro is Pamlico County’s seat on the Bay River, a low coastal plain town where county government, boats, and the road network meet. Pamlico County was formed in 1872, and Bayboro grew into the place where court business, county offices, and local services gathered. The town is small enough that the county role is hard to miss: government buildings and courthouse traffic are part of the everyday scene, not something tucked away in a distant downtown district.

North Carolina 55 runs through Bayboro toward New Bern and Oriental, tying the county seat to the larger coastal road system.
