Bayview, NC

Bayview is a Beaufort County census-designated place on the north bank of the Pamlico River, south of North Carolina Highway 92. The river is the first thing that shapes the local map: roads and homes sit between the highway to the north and the broad waterway to the south. The surrounding Inner Banks landscape runs east toward Pamlico Sound and west toward Washington. Bayview is not a town built around a courthouse square; its orientation comes from the shoreline, the highway, and the water routes that connect the county.

Beaufort County describes the Pamlico as a 30-nautical-mile water route from Washington toward Pamlico Sound, with tributaries and docks branching away from it. A ferry on NC 306 near Bayview connects the north shore with the Aurora area, giving the community a water crossing as well as its road links. Bayview remains a small place, but its location gives it a clear role in the river-centered geography of eastern North Carolina.
