Beckwourth, CA

Beckwourth lies in eastern Plumas County, east of Portola in the Sierra Valley. The post office opened as Beckwith in 1870 and changed to Beckwourth in 1932, preserving the name in the region's overland history. The 2020 census counted 478 residents. The community's modern map includes Beckwourth-Nervino Airport, a county-managed general aviation field, and the state maintenance facilities named in the local record.

Plumas Unified School District includes Beckwourth (Jim) High, a continuation high school, while students elsewhere in the valley connect through the district's wider campuses.
