Belle, WV

Belle is a Kanawha County town along the Kanawha River, folded into the chemical and industrial corridor east of Charleston. It incorporated in 1958, and local history connects its name to Belle Reynolds, an early postmaster. The river and the Chemours Belle Plant remain the clearest large-scale reference points, while the town's own map includes a post office, police and fire services, churches, and the schools serving Belle Elementary, DuPont Middle, and Riverside High.

The setting brings together a working river town and a cluster of institutions that have grown up around it. Kanawha Valley roads connect Belle to Charleston and the communities farther upriver, while the riverfront industrial sites give the town a place in the valley's manufacturing history. The West Virginia Wildfire women's tackle football team adds a current local point of interest, though the more durable picture is the everyday one: school routes, volunteer services, neighborhood streets, and the plant complex along the water.
