Beloit, KS

Beloit is the Mitchell County seat on the Solomon River in north-central Kansas. The 2020 census counted 3,404 residents. County leaders chose Beloit as the seat in 1870, and an iron bridge followed across the river in 1873, turning the crossing into a dependable link between the town and the surrounding farm country. U.S. 24 and Kansas 14 keep the city tied to the wider north-central Kansas map. The river remains the town's central geographic marker. Beloit USD 273 keeps the school system local, while North Central Kansas Technical College brings postsecondary training and students into town.

The river, county courthouse, downtown blocks, and nearby farm roads still make Beloit feel like a service center for the region.
