Berino, NM

Berino lies along Interstate 10 in Dona Ana County, about twenty-three miles south of Las Cruces, in the irrigated lower Mesilla Valley. From the highway, it is easy to read as another stretch of desert settlement; on local roads, the older pattern shows up in farm fields, ditch lines, and cottonwood shade. Berino's history belongs to the valley's long Hispano agricultural story, where water, family land, and the road south toward El Paso have always mattered.

Mission de la Inmaculada Concepcion gives the community a recognizable heart, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church still serves as a gathering point for practical help as well as worship. A monthly food-pantry stop brings people to the church on San Benito Road, while I-10 connects Berino with Las Cruces, Anthony, Vado, and the rest of southern New Mexico.
