Berne is a city in Adams County, Indiana, situated south of Fort Wayne. Settled by Mennonite immigrants in 1852 who named it for their capital homeland and widely celebrated for its Swiss heritage and Swiss Days festival, the community of approximately 3,965 features a large Amish population and is served by South Adams Schools.
