Big Bend, WI

Big Bend is a Waukesha County village of 1,483 residents in the 2020 census, named for the turn in the Fox River that runs through the community. European settlers chose the bend in the 1840s for a sawmill, inn, and post office, and the village incorporated in 1928. It now sits about twenty miles southwest of Milwaukee along I-43, with the river still the easiest way to picture the place. For daily life, the Big Bend Village Library is the clearest indoor community stop, with events, books, and digital access.

The village’s two parks include playground equipment, baseball and soccer fields, picnic and camping facilities, and a Fox River boat launch; the Mukwonago Area School District and Big Bend Elementary shape the school route.
