Big Springs, NE

Big Springs gets its name from the natural springs that originally drew travelers on the Oregon Trail and riders on the Pony Express across western Nebraska. Located in Deuel County right near the Colorado border, the village developed around the Union Pacific railroad in the late 1800s. It even earned a spot in frontier lore as the backdrop for Nebraska's biggest train heist in 1877. Today, the community holds onto that deep prairie history, set against a backdrop of open skies and rolling farmland.

Home to around 400 people, Big Springs has the kind of quiet, small-town atmosphere where life moves at a relaxed pace.
