About Black Creek

Black Creek is a Wilson County town where the historic record is unusually visible in the buildings around it. The Manalcus Aycock House, built in 1900, is a large two-story frame home with a broad porch, decorative woodwork, and stained glass. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, giving the town a landmark that is both architectural and personal: a house tied to one local family and the town street around it.

That same year, the Black Creek Rural Historic District and the Dr. Lucas House were also listed, widening the story beyond one address. Together, the three listings connect Black Creek to Wilson County’s farm-country past and preserve pieces of the built landscape that made the community recognizable. The town does not need a long list of attractions to have a distinct feel. Its character is in the way a main-street house, a rural district, and a family-era home keep local history close at hand.
