Blairs, VA

Blairs is a Pittsylvania County census-designated place in south-central Virginia, just north of Danville along the U.S. 29 corridor. The 2020 census counted 841 residents. The CDP first appeared in the 2010 census. The community sits in the Chatham-Blairs part of the county, with Danville supplying the nearest larger urban services and Chatham serving as the county seat. East Witt Road, State Route 41, and U.S. 29 tie the residential roads to the region’s tobacco and manufacturing economy.

The name reaches back to Beavers Tavern, a stop on the old road whose building was later associated with the Blair family. That tavern and the railroad helped give the crossroads a durable identity, while modern highway traffic moved onto the 29 bypass. Pittsylvania County Schools still lists its central offices in Blairs, and countywide school routes connect the CDP with Dan River and Chatham-Blairs communities. Blairs is a rural Virginia crossroads with a highway-scale present and an older tavern story underneath.
