About Danville
Danville is an independent city in Southside Virginia, set along the Dan River near the North Carolina line. It developed after the Revolutionary War and later became a tobacco, textile, and rail center, with historic districts that still show the scale of that older economy. Danville also carries difficult civil-rights history, including local segregation and protest. Today the city is trying to turn its riverfront, historic buildings, and regional location into a new chapter without losing sight of the industries that shaped it.
