About Bloomdale

Bloomdale is a Wood County village whose present identity began as the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad extended through the area. Wood County lists the village as founded in 1887, while local history records an earlier post office dating to 1874. The tracks, small street grid, and surrounding roads sit in the open farm country of northwestern Ohio. Rail access gave Bloomdale its first regional connection, and the village's layout still carries the compact form that grew around that line.

A post office operated in Bloomdale until March 2019, giving the village a long postal history even as services changed. Elmwood Local School District operates the elementary, middle, and high schools serving the area. Wood County's village list and historic county atlas place Bloomdale within a wider network of small communities between Bowling Green and Fostoria. The present map is a compact group of streets and civic buildings shaped first by rail, then by the roads and schools of Wood County.
