About Bloomingburg
Bloomingburg is a Sullivan County village in Mamakating, set along the Shawangunk Kill at the Orange County line. Incorporated in 1833, it was the first county seat of Sullivan County when Mamakating was still the original county town. The village sits on the east side of Shawangunk Ridge, with the stream forming its eastern boundary and the ridge rising west. Its location also puts it in the Hudson River watershed, linking this small village to a much larger river system. Bloomingburg is a New York crossroads of county history, water, and ridge country.
