About Bluff
Tucked against red rock cliffs along the San Juan River, Bluff is a quiet desert town of about 250 people in southeastern Utah. It sits right at the doorstep of Bears Ears and the Four Corners country, giving residents huge open skies and rugged canyon views in every direction. The town was founded in 1880 by pioneers who carved out the famous Hole-in-the-Rock trail, and you can still see that history today in the sturdy Victorian sandstone homes and the historic Bluff Fort downtown.
Living in Bluff means settling into a slow, peaceful river-valley lifestyle. Big cottonwood trees shade the quiet streets, and the river offers great local rafting and green scenery against the red sand. Bluff Elementary takes care of local schoolkids, while local cafes, historic trading posts, and active arts and outdoor communities give the town plenty of personality.
