Boley, OK

Boley holds a special place in Oklahoma history as one of the state's most prominent historic all-Black towns. Founded in 1903, the community quickly grew into a thriving, self-sufficient hub complete with its own banks, businesses, and schools. Today, the downtown area is designated as a National Historic Landmark, where original brick buildings still stand as a proud reminder of the town's founding roots.

The biggest highlight of the year is the annual Boley Rodeo, held every Memorial Day weekend. Recognized as the nation's oldest Black community rodeo, the event brings thousands of visitors into town for barrel racing, parades, and good barbecue. Sitting along Highway 62 between Prague and Okemah, Boley offers a quiet, small-town lifestyle steeped in rich Western heritage and deep community pride.
