About Boston
Boston is a Thomas County city whose local calling cards are a Carnegie library and a candy company. The town was incorporated in 1870, and its library was built in 1913 after local leaders asked Andrew Carnegie for help. Dillon Candy Company returned to Boston in 1956, bringing back the copper-kettle operation George Dillon had started decades earlier. The old post office building and the county’s oldest Presbyterian church were moved to the present town site, giving Boston a small collection of recognizable landmarks. It is a South Georgia place where library history, handmade candy, and an old shipping-town map sit together.
