Bourg, LA

Bourg is a Terrebonne Parish CDP on the lower Bayou Petit Caillou corridor, south of Houma and within the parish's coastal road network. The 2020 census counted 2,375 residents. The place is organized by water, levees, bridges, and Louisiana Highway 24, with houses and businesses lining a long, narrow route, not a square. LA 24 follows the bayou, crosses the Company Canal, and keeps the road toward Montegut and Larose in the picture. The shoreline is never far from the road, even when it disappears behind houses.

The bayou is always nearby. Bourg Elementary and South Terrebonne High School give the community its clearest daily landmarks, with both campuses tied to the coastal school map.
