About Boykin

Boykin sits along U.S. 27 in southern Miller County, five miles southeast of Colquitt and sixteen miles northwest of Bainbridge. The community's post office operated from 1897 to 1932, and local histories associate the name with early settler Guilford A. Boykin. Big Drain flows west toward Spring Creek and Lake Seminole, where the Flint and Chattahoochee rivers join before continuing as the Apalachicola. That drainage gives this small south Georgia place a clear relationship to the regional road and river system, even as its streets remain surrounded by county farmland.
