Bradley, ME

Bradley is the primary village in the town of Bradley, tucked into the northwest corner of Penobscot County. The Penobscot River forms the western edge, Milford sits to the north, and Old Town and Orono are across the water. That geography gives Bradley a two-sided identity: inland Maine roads and forest on one side, a major river and the Bangor-area network on the other. The town was incorporated in 1834, when lumbering and sawmilling were central to the local economy.

Route 178 is the practical spine, linking Bradley with Milford, Old Town, Brewer, and Bangor. The wider town includes the Penobscot Experimental Forest and the Maine Forest and Logging Museum at Leonard's Mills, where a working sawmill, covered bridge, water wheel, and logging machinery keep the timber story tangible. Blackman Stream and Great Works Stream run toward the Penobscot, and spring alewives use the fishway toward Chemo Pond. Bradley's village streets are small, but the surrounding map reaches from forest research and river ecology to the schools, jobs, and services of nearby Old Town and Bangor.
