About Braswell

Straddling the border of Paulding and Polk counties, Braswell is a quiet, tiny community with around 350 residents. It started out in the late 1800s as a railroad stop for local timber operations and took its name from sawmill owner Henry Braswell. Back then, it was best known as a key mountain pass along the train route between Atlanta and Chattanooga.

These days, that old railroad corridor is the town's biggest attraction. The tracks have been transformed into a scenic stretch of the Silver Comet Trail, drawing cyclists, runners, and walkers straight through the historic Brushy Mountain Tunnel. With nearby campgrounds, horseback riding, and plenty of wooded trails, Braswell is a great fit for anyone looking for true rural peace while staying within reach of the greater Atlanta area.
