About Brewton

Brewton is a city and the county seat of Escambia County, Alabama, situated just north of the Florida Panhandle. Originally settled as Newport, the community utilized barges on Murder Creek and Burnt Corn Creek before the arrival of the railroad. Brewton is widely known for hosting the annual Alabama Blueberry Festival at Jennings Park and downtown. The town is a regional commercial center, historical home to the Downing Industrial School for girls.
