Brightwaters, NY

Brightwaters is a quiet village of about 3,200 residents on the South Shore of Long Island, situated within the Town of Islip. The neighborhood is shaped by its waterways, split naturally by Montauk Highway. To the north sits a series of scenic freshwater lakes, while the south centers on the Brightwaters Canal, offering dock space and easy boating access to the Great South Bay. The streets are largely residential, lined with mature trees and well-kept historic homes.

Children attend the Bay Shore school district, and neighboring Bay Shore also provides the area's main transportation hub, including the Long Island Rail Road and Fire Island ferries. For recreation, residents head to Wohseepee Park for tennis courts and community gatherings, making the village feel close-knit while keeping broader Long Island amenities within a few minutes' drive.
