Briny Breezes, FL

Briny Breezes is a Palm Beach County town stretched across a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, with about 488 resident-owned mobile homes along State Road A1A. Its civic story began as Shore Acres Dairy, Ward Miller's 1919 farm. During the Great Depression, Miller let northern travelers park trailers for three dollars a week. Seasonal campers gradually made a permanent settlement, bought the land together in 1958, and incorporated as a town in 1963. Briny remains one of Florida's rare incorporated mobile-home towns, with a municipal boundary built around a resident-owned cooperative.

Everyday life faces both waterways. The oceanfront clubhouse opens onto a 600-foot private beach, while the Intracoastal side includes a marina; the community also has a pool, shuffleboard courts, gym, laundromat, library, and clubs. Many residents live year-round, while others return for the winter season, when social activities fill the calendar. Briny Breezes is a small municipality whose local government, homes, and shared facilities all fit inside a narrow coastal strip—a place born from a trailer park that became a town.
