Brookdale, NJ

Brookdale is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Bloomfield Township, in Essex County. It is generally the northern part of Bloomfield, above Bay Avenue, with the Yantecaw River adding a bit of local geography to an otherwise built-out North Jersey suburb. The area was once known by the English name Stone House Plains, a reminder that this compact residential place has older roots beneath its present-day commuter-town feel.
