Brookfield is a Cook County village about 13 miles west of downtown Chicago, with roots in late-19th-century real estate development. It is best known regionally for Brookfield Zoo, which gives the village a destination identity beyond its residential blocks and Metra access. Brookfield also has older homes, neighborhood businesses, parks, and nearby attractions like Galloping Ghost Pinball in the local orbit.
