Brooksville, KY

Brooksville is Bracken County's seat in central Kentucky, where KY 10 and KY 19 meet before running toward the Ohio River towns of Maysville and Augusta. The city grew from Woodward's Crossroads, settled before 1800 by William and Joel Woodward. County government moved here from Augusta in 1833, and the place became the official county seat in 1839; it was renamed for Senator David Brooks. That history still leaves Brooksville with a courthouse-centered map: the county clerk's office and Bracken County Courthouse sit at 116 West Miami Street.

Brooksville's daily gathering places extend from the courthouse block to the Bracken County Public Library at 310 West Miami Street. The library serves all of Bracken County through its main building, bookmobile, and outreach vehicle, and its community room hosts meetings and programs.
