Brooksville, MS

Brooksville is a town in Noxubee County, Mississippi, named for the several brooks that run nearby. A post office was established in 1846, the town was incorporated in 1860, and the Mobile and Ohio Railroad later made Brooksville a stop on its north-south route through eastern Mississippi. Those dates place the town within the period when rail lines and cotton-country roads were turning small county settlements into trading points.
