Bruceville-Eddy, TX

Bruceville-Eddy is a Central Texas city straddling the McLennan–Falls county line along Interstate 35, about eighteen miles southwest of Waco and sixteen miles north of Temple. It began as two separate communities: Bruceville, named for Lucien N. Bruce, and Eddy, named for Katy Railroad superintendent Everett B. Eddy. Both became Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad stations in 1882, and the line shaped the early stores, banks, schools, and hotels on either side. The two communities joined city government in 1974. Today Bruceville-Eddy still carries both names, with I-35 and FM 107 adding a highway layer to the old rail map. The city's history is a merger story written by railroad and highway.
