About Bushton

Bushton is a quiet, friendly town of around 200 people in central Kansas's Rice County. Founded in the 1880s under the original name Sorghum, the community soon renamed itself after the wild bushes dotting the surrounding prairie. It offers the kind of peaceful rural setting where neighbors know each other and life moves at an easy pace.

Today, the heart of the community is the town's former high school building, which now serves as a shared civic hub. The historic structure houses the city offices, the Farmer Township Library, and spaces for local businesses and gatherings.
