Butte is a census-designated place in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, situated within the Anchorage metropolitan area. set between the Matanuska and Knik rivers, the community surrounds and is named after the prominent Bodenburg Butte geological formation. Agriculture forms the town's economic backbone, supported by numerous local farms and the State of Alaska Plant Materials Center. Butte is also home to the Alaska Raceway Park and features its own elementary school.
